A Night at the Races, perhaps the most exciting, high-energy Nutley Family Service Bureau (NFSB) event of the year, will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Nutley Parks Department at 44 Park Avenue.
Last year, A Night at the Races returned after a two-year hiatus without missing a beat. The event sold out, attracting more than 200 guests and raising approximately $23,000 to support NFSB programs!
This year, moving to a larger venue will allow us to accommodate more than 300 guests, which will take the excitement level to new heights and help us keep up with increased demand for NFSB services.
A Night at the Races is a fast-paced event that will feature 10 horse races, a buffet dinner, Kentucky Derby-style hats, and pageantry reminiscent of a Triple Crown race. As guests cheer for their favorite horses, races will be called live by Dave Popkin, Seton Hall University basketball radio announcer and current President of the NFSB Board of Trustees.
Our tricky tray auction will return as guests can use chips they win from the races to bid on donated prizes. Last year’s prizes included gift baskets, jewelry, household items, event tickets, restaurant gift cards, unique experiences, and more.
In the coming weeks, we’ll open our virtual “ticket booth” so you can purchase individual tickets or an entire table of tickets for your family, friends, and co-workers. You’ll be able to choose from dining options that include a buffet dinner and beverages. We’ll also announce sponsorship opportunities, from major event sponsors to individual horse sponsors in each race!
Last year’s event would not have been possible without the contributions of more than 40 volunteers, so please contact us if you would like to volunteer for the 2023 version of A Night at the Races.
“Demand for NFSB’s mental health program, Food Pantry services, and case management services has never been higher,” said Dave Popkin. “A Night at the Races is a wonderful event that brings the community together for a fun, unique experience and helps us make a bigger difference in people’s lives. This has quickly become one of our most anticipated events of the year, and one of our most important fundraisers. I’m excited to work with our committee, volunteers, and sponsors to make A Night at the Races an even bigger success.”
