• Rock Hunger VII: NFSB’s Fundraiser to Feed the Community

Many in our community are suffering right now. People who never needed help are now finding themselves unable to feed their families. Consider supporting the NFSB Food Pantry by coming to Rock Hunger this Saturday or by making a donation online.

Without the generosity of the Nutley community, the Nutley Family Service Bureau (NFSB) Food Pantry would not be able to keep up with the ever-increasing demand for the food services we provide. We are currently providing fresh produce, protein and groceries to over 600 individuals a month.

A local resident’s first experience with NFSB often comes through the Food Pantry, where we offer both emergency assistance and ongoing support. We never turn anyone away, and we always answer the phone.

The Food Pantry can then be the gateway to other much-needed programs and services. If someone is struggling to put food on the table, there is a good chance that they’re struggling in other areas of their life.

This is why Food Pantry clients are typically referred to our Case Management team, which can identify areas of need and connect individuals with additional resources, including social service programs that offer financial assistance, transportation, and health services.

The challenge NFSB is facing right now is continued funding to keep up with Food Pantry demand, which has been averaging double-digit growth each month as the price of food continues to rise.
Without additional funding, we may have to scale back programming, which could affect the number of people we can help and the scope of services we provide.
    We need your help.

Most people who benefit from the Food Pantry desperately need basic living necessities, and your support of our Rock Hunger fundraiser will help us provide these essential services.
Although $25 might not get you very far at the grocery store these days, it goes a long way at the NFSB Food Pantry.

    • $25 covers the cost of groceries for a client at Nutley Senior Manor for two weeks.
    • $25 covers the cost of groceries for a parent and small child for one week.
    • $25 covers the cost of emergency groceries for a family of four for two days.

Joan Roake, Assistant Food Pantry Manager likes to say “Scouting for Food is our biggest ‘food raiser’ of the year for the Pantry because we typically receive enough non-perishables to stock our shelves for a year. Rock Hunger is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it’s the only fundraiser that’s completely dedicated to the Food Pantry. It’s a fun way to support people in your community who are struggling to put food on the table.”

Please consider coming out to support the Food Pantry this Saturday by attending Rock Hunger or donating to support our Food Pantry. More than food and support, Nutley residents come to us seeking hope. They want to feel like tomorrow will be better than today. Your donation helps.

On behalf of the NFSB family, I would like to thank you again for your support.
